MEETING THE SOURCE
WORKSHOP PROPORSAL
Through a "mask and trance" approach, the workshop consists of a series of experiences designed to prepare our bodies and minds to listen to, articulate, and express the unique voice that each mask possesses.
We will explore masks from different traditions (Balinese, European), objects, and natural makeup to discover the vast diversity that resides both in masks and in our bodies.
No prior experience in theater or any other art form is required to participate in the retreat.
WORK STAGES
Through excersises of "Maximum Sensitivity" and work on activating and identifying the different bodily centers, we will guide each participant to a genuine state of openness, listening, and physical availability to receive the masks.
First, we will explore half-masks called Bondrés, originating from the Balinese traditional theater known as Topeng. This work will involve various voice exercises, as well as individual, paired, and group improvisations.
Next, we will delve into the technique of full dramatic masks. This will focus on developing awareness and activation of the spine, executing minimal and precise movements, rhythm, impulse/counter-impulse, and economy of movement.
WORKING TIME
The workshop is carried out in a process of four days of three hours each day, being flexible to the needs of each group. We aim to ensure that work is not only during the three hours of each day, but that it continues in the daily routine, be attentive, awake to the fact that each moment can be a signal for work.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
Minimum 8. Maximum 30. The number of participants will depend on the space.
SPACE NEEDS
